The power of Time - High Arousal

I have always wondered about the power of time... how it is called a healer, how it changes things, how altho sometimes u remain the same time changes things (Griz HAS and WILL argue abt this point.... he will say U MUST'VE CHANGED!).....

Well, me is readin a book called Blink. Its a rather startling book with its main line being, "The power of thinking without thinking"

Majorly intrigued i was by this title, so started to read this book. And he talked abt a part of the mind, which is not under our control but makes some startling decisions for us which we cant account for or explain. Well this post is not abt the book, but a specific part of the book dealing with the mind and time. Some terms and in fact text is from the book Blink (acknowledgement)

When the mind is under high pressure due to a shortage of time, we tend to become "mind-blind". Your heart beat goes very high and ur mind tends to narrow down,significantly, the amount of info it takes in and processes. We go into a high arousal state. We tend to act based on our stereotypes, our deep seated perceptions but not based on what we believe in or even what's right/required!!! A typical example is being a racist even tho u have no conscious ill feeling towards blacks. Here's an example the author quoted which made me jump up on my bed as i lie reading it, to a sitting position and say "whommmmma!! what the !!?!?!" :

This is an assasination attempt at South Korean president. Read it to believe it!
"The assasin stands up, and he shoots himself in the leg. THats how it starts. He's nervous out of his mind. Then he shoots at the president and he misses. He hits the president's wife instead. Kills the wife. The bodyguard gets up and shoots back. He misses. He hits an eight year old boy. It was a screw up on all sides. Everything went wrong. How long do u think all this took?15, 20 seconds ? No, Three point five (3.5) seconds!!!!!!!"

I was like ....

Anyways, I dont believe that this was the fault of a novice assasin or an inexperienced bodyguard. Its purely the power of time !!!!!
